Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be Indian nationals with a consistently good academic record.
- Applicants must have qualified and hold a valid certificate in at least one of the following national-level examinations: UGC-CSIR-NET Fellowship (SLET/Lectureship not eligible), JEST, ICMR-JRF Test, ICAR-JRF Test, DBT-JRF Biotechnology Eligibility Test, GATE (Physics/Chemistry/Life Sciences/Biotechnology), or JGEEBILS.
- Candidates should have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in B.Sc. and 55% aggregate in M.Sc. from a recognized university.
- Those who have completed a five-year Integrated M.Sc. / B.S.-M.S. (Dual Degree) must have minimum 55% aggregate marks.
- Candidates holding a 4-year / 8-semester bachelorโs degree (B.S. with fourth year Research) with minimum 75% aggregate marks are also eligible.
- Candidates who have completed their degree but are awaiting final results of M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc., B.S.-M.S. (Dual Degree), or B.S. (with fourth year Research) may also apply. However, they must have the required minimum marks up to the previous semester and must complete all degree requirements before 10 August 2026.

- Physics: M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. / B.S.-M.S. (Dual Degree) / B.S. (with fourth year Research) in Physics, with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the B.Sc. level.
- Chemistry: M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. / B.S.-M.S. (Dual Degree) / B.S. (with fourth year Research) in Chemistry (General / Applied / Organic / Inorganic / Physical / Analytical). Candidates must have Physics as an ancillary subject at B.Sc. level and Mathematics at the H.Sc. level, with passing marks in both.
- Life Sciences: M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. / B.S.-M.S. (Dual Degree) / B.S. (with fourth year Research) in Life Sciences disciplines, including Life Science, Botany, Zoology, Agriculture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Marine Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Animal Science, Biomedical Sciences, Biosciences, Food Science, and Food Science & Technology. Candidates must have studied Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry or related Chemistry subjects at the B.Sc. or integrated M.Sc. level.
- Not Eligible Disciplines
- Candidates with specializations such as Electronics & Instrumentation, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Petroleum Chemistry, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Bio-analytical Sciences, Polymer Science, Medicine/Medical Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Home Science, or B.Tech./M.Tech. in Life Sciences disciplines are not eligible.
Fee Structure
- An application fee of โน500 must be paid while submitting the online application form.
- The fee can be paid only through online mode, such as net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.
- Women candidates, as well as candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), are exempted from paying the application fee.
- After completing the online application form, candidates must pay the fee using the Application Number generated during registration. Applications without fee payment will be considered incomplete and will be rejected.

| Applications will be scrutinized and candidates will be screened in for interview based on eligibility as per the national level exam and their score in the qualifying exam. The number of candidates to be called for interview will be decided by the Selection Committee. Final selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in the selection interview only. Allotment of research project will be on the basis of performance in the selection interview; in case of a tie, marks obtained in M.Sc./B.Sc. will be considered. The recommendation/decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding. |
