Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality:
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- With written consent from the Central Government, subjects of Nepal or Bhutan may also be considered for appointment.
- Gender:
- Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Commandants.
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from:
- A university established by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India,
- An institution established by an Act of Parliament, or
- A university declared as deemed under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956,
- Or possess an equivalent qualification.
- Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination but have not yet received their results are also eligible.
- Candidates planning to appear for such a qualifying examination in 2026 are eligible to apply.
- Successful candidates must provide proof of passing the qualifying examination (Degree Certificate, Final Mark Sheet, or Provisional Degree Certificate) within the time frame specified in the rules.
- Degrees, postgraduate degrees, or diplomas obtained through distance learning or part-time study are not accepted.
- Important Notes:
- In exceptional cases, the Commission may consider a candidate as qualified even if they do not meet the above qualifications, provided they have passed an exam of equivalent standard.
- Candidates with professional or technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to degrees are also eligible.
- All qualifications must be from UGC-recognized universities, deemed universities, or MHRD-approved autonomous institutions.
Fee Structure
- General/OBC/EWS (Male Candidates): Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only)
- All Female Candidates / SC / ST Candidates: NIL (Exempted from payment)
Payment Mode:
- The application fee can be paid through Net Banking of any bank or via Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI.
- Payment through any other mode will not be accepted.
- Applications submitted without the prescribed fee or correct payment mode (unless fee exemption applies) will be summarily rejected.
- The fee, once paid, is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted for any other exam or selection process.
Important Note:
OBC and EWS candidates do not have any fee exemption and must pay the full prescribed fee.
Age Limits
- Minimum Age: 20 years (must have been born not later than 1st August, 2006)
- Maximum Age: 25 years (must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 2001)
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST candidates: Up to a maximum of 5 years
- OBC candidates: Up to a maximum of 3 years (for those eligible to avail reservation)
- Civilian Central Government Servants/Ex-Servicemen: Up to a maximum of 5 years in accordance with existing Central Government instructions (total relaxation limited to 5 years)
- SC/ST and OBC candidates who are also Civilian Central Government Servants/Ex-servicemen: Eligible for cumulative age-relaxation under both categories

- Universal Registration Number (URN): Can be done anytime; unique for all UPSC exams and remains constant.
- Common Application Form (CAF): Can be filled anytime; common for all UPSC exams.

Q1. What is the UPSC CAPF (ACs) Examination 2026?
The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the Central Armed Police Forces Assistant Commandants (Group A) Exam 2026 on 19th July 2026. This recruitment is for 349 vacancies across five forces: BSF – 108, CRPF – 106, CISF – 70, SSB – 53, ITBP – 12. Notification released on 20th February 2026.
Q2. How many vacancies are available?
A total of 349 tentative vacancies are available, distributed as follows: BSF (108), CRPF (106), CISF (70), SSB (53), ITBP (12). Vacancies may change. Reservation follows government rules, with 10% for Ex-servicemen. Both male and female candidates are eligible.
Q3. Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university (Central/State/Parliament Act or deemed under UGC Act 1956) or equivalent.
- Candidates awaiting results or appearing in 2026 are eligible but must provide proof of passing within the prescribed timeline.
