Eligibility Criteria
  • Assistant Professor (Clinical & Non-Clinical):
  • Candidates must possess a Postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant specialty from institutions recognized by MCI/NMC.
  • Assistant Professor (Super Specialty):
  • Candidates should hold a PG degree (DNB/DrNB/DM/MCh) in the concerned super specialty from institutions recognized by MCI/NMC.
  • Applicants must have acquired the prescribed educational qualifications as on the date of notification (01 January 2026).
  • For Clinical and Non-Clinical posts, candidates must have completed one year of Senior Residency from a recognized institute after obtaining the required PG qualification.
  • Senior Residency is not mandatory for Super Specialty posts.
  • Candidates who completed DNB from institutions not recognized by NMC must have completed one additional year of Senior Residency.
  • Essential Requirements
  • Registration with the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council is compulsory.
  • Only local candidates of Andhra Pradesh are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who studied from Class IV to Class X in Andhra Pradesh will be treated as local candidates.
  • Candidates who migrated from Telangana to any part of Andhra Pradesh within three years from 2 June 2014 are also eligible.
  • Desirable / Other Conditions
  • Candidates already working as Assistant Professors under the Director of Medical Education are not eligible to apply.
  • Contract weightage marks will not be awarded to doctors working on a regular basis.
  • No contract weightage marks will be given for contract service rendered before completion of PG qualification.

Mode Of Selection 
Selection will be made based on merit and the Rule of Reservation.
Total Marks: 100
Marks Distribution
Qualifying Examination: 75 marks
Weightage for Years Since Qualification: 10 marks
1 mark for each year after completion of PG/Super Specialty, subject to a maximum of 10 marks
Central Institution Weightage: 5 marks
Applicable to candidates who completed their PG/Super Specialty from Central Institutions
Contract Service Weightage
COVID-19 Duty:
5.0 marks for every six months of service
(0.83 mark for each completed month)
Tribal Area Service:
2.5 marks for every six months of service
Rural Area Service:
2.0 marks for every six months of service
Urban Area Service:
1.0 mark for every six months of service
Important Conditions
No weightage will be awarded for service less than six months, except for COVID-19 duties where each completed month is counted.
Contract service certificates must be issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format (Annexure-V).
Only contract service rendered after completion of the PG qualification in the relevant specialty will be considered for weightage.

SC sub-classification is applicable. SC candidates must clearly mention their category as SC (Group-I), SC (Group-II), or SC (Group-III) in the application.

Reservation Policy
Vertical Reservation: Applicable for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Backward Classes (BC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
Horizontal Reservation: Applicable for Women and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Candidates with 40% or more disability, duly certified by a competent medical authority.
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Candidates not covered under SC/ST/BC categories whose annual family income is below ₹8.00 lakh.
EWS candidates must submit a valid EWS certificate for 2025–26, issued by the Tahsildar.
Horizontal reservation is inter-locking, meaning it applies across all vertical reservation categories.
