Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel
- LLB degree from a recognized institution
- Minimum 10 years’ practice in criminal law
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Excellent command over criminal law principles
- Deep understanding of ethical responsibilities of defence counsel
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide a team
- Experience of handling at least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Courts
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- Capability to efficiently manage office operations
Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel
- LLB degree
- Minimum 7 years’ practice in criminal law
- Sound knowledge of criminal law
- Strong communication and legal research skills
- Clear understanding of professional ethics
- Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently
- Experience of handling at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts
- Good IT proficiency
Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel
- High level of IT proficiency
- LLB degree
- 0–3 years’ practice in criminal law
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of ethical duties of defence counsel
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
